Learning how to swallow capsules (or tablets) can be very challenging for children, as well as for some adults. We teach children not to swallow anything until it has been completely chewed and not to put strange objects in their mouths; so it is only natural that they find it difficult to swallow a capsule. Also some people have narrow throats, sensitive palates or a very strong “gag reflex”, which can initially make swallowing larger objects uncomfortable.
